F1 has officially become bigger than the MET Gala 2024. Taylor Swift, who is preparing for the European leg of her Eras tour in Paris, has reportedly opted to attend the Miami GP this weekend while skipping the prestigious MET Gala the day after the race. The ‘Anti-Hero’ creator and her significant other, Travis Kelce, are set for a double date at the Miami International Autodrome with the latter’s NFL teammate Patrick Mahomes, and his wife Brittany.

Kansas City teammates Kelce and Mahomes aren’t new to F1. The Super Bowl-winning duo is part of a consortium that invested $218 million in the Alpine F1 team, which is severely struggling in 2024. They would hope to provide a much-needed morale boost to the French team while adding to the glitter of A-list celebrities.

This double date idea, however, could just be Mr. and Mrs. Mahomes’ idea. The celebrity couple had made a date night out of the Miami GP 2023, too. And they are now spreading the high-paced joy with close friends Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. While the American pop star was the headliner at the inaugural Austin GP in 2016, Kelce, who described his Alpine investment as a “dream come true”, has never attended an F1 race.

Elaborating on this exciting development, a source told the US Sun: “Travis sees that Taylor is falling in love with sports, and he is excited to take her there, as she also wants to know more and more about his passions, and spend time with Brittany and Patrick, who are very good friends too.”

This mega crossover could help F1 with the vital viewership boost that it desires from the American market. Max Verstappen has been ruthlessly dominating F1, and has also won both editions of the Miami GP. The Red Bull driver is most likely to make it a hat trick this weekend and snatch his 5th win of 2024. As for Taylor Swift, fans could hope that she spills the beans on her past rumored relationship with Fernando Alonso, which she seemingly referenced in her latest break-up album.

How Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’ renewed her Fernando Alonso dating rumors

On 19th April, Taylor Swift released her latest album, titled ‘Tortured Poets Department’. While she broke several records, including tying Jay-Z with her 14th No. 1 album on the Billboard charts, F1 fans were focused elsewhere. In Track 18, titled ‘imgonnagetyouback’, the 12-time Grammy winner referenced the car manufacturer that Fernando Alonso drives for in F1 – Aston Martin.

The lyric went: “I’m an Aston Martin that you steered straight into the ditch, then ran and hid.” Though it doesn’t overtly mention the 2-time champion driver’s name, fans were quick to draw the connection, based on rumors of the duo dating in 2023. Surprisingly, Alonso and Aston Martin even reacted to this. In a TikTok shared by the Silverstone-based team, when this part of the song is played, Alonso looks up and shushes the camera.
