The rapid spread of Coronavirus in Italy has sparked fears of contagion across the European Union. These recent events have forced the Maranello based Ferrari F1 to take strict measures to safeguard its employees.
Earlier, McLaren F1 has also imposed strict restrictions after the outbreak.

In Italy, so far 229 cases and six deaths have been recorded. The regions most affected are Lombardy and Veneto. Italian officials announced sweeping restrictions on the regions of Lombardy and Veneto, effectively putting around 100,000 people in quarantine.

These restrictions will most likely impact the working of the sports management staff moving around the F1 World Championship circuits with the Ferrari F1 team. And to mitigate the impact some of the staff will start working remotely from the factory itself. Ferrari F1’s chief strategist Inaki Rueda and his team already operate from the base.

FIA and F1 teams are taking every possible measure to curb the risk. As a result, the Chinese GP scheduled for the 19th of April stands canceled. And the inaugural Vietnam GP is also under the radar. The circumstance is continually changing and if the outbreak takes over more countries the whole 2020 season might be under threat of cancelation.
As of now, there are no alerts for the beginning of the season in Melbourne on March 15 but Coronavirus’s outbreak in Europe might play spoilsport.
