“I Will Take It”: Despite Depressing Confession, Charles Leclerc Refuses to Surrender Against Max Verstappen in Brazil

Watching one’s greatest competitor dominate in fashion like Max Verstappen certainly takes a toll on a person. Such has been the case for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who was often quite a jolly personality with witty answers, simply seems low on enthusiasm. But despite a depressing confession following the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying, he has refused to give up entirely against his number 1 rival!

The qualifying session at the Brazilian Grand Prix 2023 was quite a show. With the Aston Martin’s back in the top 5, and the weather so dense, that it almost looked like a night race at the Interlagos! However, amidst all this, what wasn’t so surprising was Verstappen once again coming out on top, with Leclerc just behind. Leclerc’s disappointment was visible in his recent depressing statement. However, all might not be over!

Despite the qualifying session being red-flagged due to the weather conditions, Leclerc still managed to finish second, just behind Verstappen. With a qualifying time of 1:11:021, he continued his tradition of good qualifying pace. However, during the pres-conference, the Ferrari driver got quite candid, as he revealed his honest thoughts.

Charles Leclerc shared his thoughts before the upcoming sprint shootout and sprint sessions as he stated, “Realistically maybe not (beating Max), but as always if there is the opportunity to pass him at the start & block him for all the laps, then I will take it.

Despite being a tough competitor and always in the hunt for a pole, thanks to his experience with Ferrari, he now has become more down-to-earth and realistic. Albeit, for better or worse. However, one should not forget that despite Ferrari’s continued attempts at failed strategies and bad luck, the hunger within Leclerc to win a race has not been quenched. And perhaps it never will be.

Qualifying in the Brazilian GP was the strangest session in Leclerc’s career

The Brazilian Grand Prix has always managed to provide some of the most thrilling experiences to F1 fans. And boy, wasn’t it already quite an exhilarating experience at the qualifying sessions! The weather was borderline scary. So much so that fans online were wondering whether the session would soon be stopped, and it did!

Even Charles Leclerc couldn’t agree more with this, as his experience with the qualifying suggests that it was quite an unusual session. Following the early stoppage of the session, he stated, “That was one of or probably the strangest session of my career. Especially the last run. I think there was the rain coming, the wind changed completely, and there was no rain around but the grip changed completely, and it was extremely difficult.”

If it helps you feel any better Leclerc, you still did quite a good job! With the teams now ready to expect such tricky situations, it’ll be interesting to see how the upcoming sessions unfold. Especially the main race on Sunday, and given that lap 1 could be very chaotic. Let’s hope that the Mexican Grand Prix doesn’t repeat itself!
