In recent times, Formula 1 races have expanded their influence beyond just the tracks. The global community, from die-hard enthusiasts to casual observers, has its eyes firmly fixed on the dazzling world of motorsport. With racetracks transforming into hubs of luxury, featuring exquisite restaurants and high-end experiences, the line between the dedicated fan and the casual spectator has seemingly blurred. It is within this context that a new controversy has ignited, with the spark provided by none other than the F1 driver, Carlos Sainz.
If this is how Carlos thinks of fans based on how much money they can spend and not the adoration they have for him then he doesn’t deserve fans. And don’t defend him saying he doesn’t mean that because he exactly means that.

In a recent interview, which was subsequently shared by an account on X, the racing superstar made a distinction that has ruffled quite a few feathers. He remarked, “It is true that probably a fan that comes to a race is a ‘proper fan’. It means they’ve spent quite a bit of money.”

A fan straightforwardly suggested Carlos to not say anything. And there are many more like them.
The digital realm was quick to react, and the spectrum of responses covered a broad range.
F1 fans are fuming
For some, Sainz’s statement was reminiscent of previous instances where they felt his attitude leaned toward arrogance.
He’s an arrogant man. Remember when he said the drivers had a hard life and Charles had to humble him and say no they have an easy life.
