Christian Horner once said that Formula 1 drivers have almost similar mentalities to fighter jet pilots. And it isn’t far away from the truth. Zipping past each other close to 200 miles an hour, you have to have that killer instinct. And with that instinct comes a lot of adrenaline rush. This is why you may have heard drivers swearing on the radio all too often (although you hear more beeps than words). There are a few drivers who are quite well known to lash out over the team radio owing to their short temper. However, Charles Leclerc is probably not one of those who goes overboard. But that’s not to say that he doesn’t swear at all.

We have heard quite a few moments of his rage pouring out. In a short clip shared by Sky Sports on Instagram, Charles Leclerc can be seen explaining how he doesn’t always want to lash out on the radio, but sometimes it just happens in the spur of the moment. The clip was part of a new documentary on the Maranello squad called “Discovered Scuderia Ferrari.”

To be honest, we don’t hear Charles Leclerc shouting on the radio all that often. But there are a few moments that spring to mind. Like in 2019, Leclerc was really unhappy when Max Verstappen overtook him for the lead at the Red Bull Ring by almost shoving him off the track. We also remember his hurtful cry in 2022, when Leclerc crashed out from the lead of the race at the French Grand Prix, practically losing all hopes for a title fight with Verstappen.

But most of the time, his radio messages are not over the top. In the documentary clip shared by Sky Sports, Charles Leclerc explained why we sometimes hear him raging out over the team radio. “It happens sometimes, but it’s obvious I think. Sometimes I make a mistake and I leave my radio open instead of closing it and obviously, everybody listens to me… when I wanted to keep that rage for me!
