In the aftermath of the controversial penalty imposed on Lando Norris at the Canadian Grand Prix, he has witnessed an unexpected show of support from a former F1 champion. As the outcry over the penalty grows louder, Damon Hill, known for his strong opinions, delivered a concise yet impactful statement, aligning himself with Norris and questioning the validity of the penalty.

Norris faced an unusual penalty for what appeared to be a minor infraction. During a Safety Car period, Norris inadvertently created a gap to Piastri, resulting in a five-second time penalty for “unsportsmanlike conduct.” F1 fans and experts were left perplexed by the severity of the punishment, considering Norris’s reputation as one of the sport’s most amicable figures. In a candid Instagram comment, Norris expressed his confusion, stating that he was unaware of the exact reason for the penalty and emphasizing that slowing down during a Virtual Safety Car (VSC) or a Safety Car (SC) is a common practice.
