Seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, has had many unforgettable interviews over the years as we watched him grow. One, in particular, comes to mind when the Briton took us by surprise. He claimed to not be in love with F1. And nobody saw that coming!

Lewis Hamilton and his record-breaking performances would only indicate his utmost love for the sport. However, Hamilton had us all shaken when he claimed that, that wasn’t the case. In fact, he explained that he has ‘never’ been in love with the sport.
In an interview for ‘F1 Pit Wall’ in 2016, Lewis shared his way of approaching the sport. He claimed that he was at ease and enjoyed the place that he has made for himself. However, he wouldn’t describe his feeling for the sport as ‘love.’
He said, “I don’t know if I’m in love, is the way I’d put it. I don’t think I was ever in love with it. I mean I love driving cars. I mean I love the cars. I do definitely enjoy (that) just as much as I ever have.”
“I’m now more comfortable, and my roots have fully grown as deep as they can go within Formula 1. So, I feel very very comfortable. I feel very much a part of sport,” he said, in conclusion.
Hamilton, furthermore, shared about what goes behind the scenes. He stresses about how a team goes through it all with you as one.

Lewis Hamilton shared his thoughts on teamwork and how everyone back at Mercedes functions like a big family. Talking about the time when Toto Wolff brought about changes in Mercedes, Lewis shed light on the collaborative spirit of the team. And what they go through when changes take place.

He talks about how everything is a shared experience and letting go can be emotional too. He explained, “When you work with a group of guys so closely you build a bond that- it’s kind of hard to explain. But, you know, they’re your soldiers. That’s your squad, you know?”

“It was emotional for all of us. those that are particularly connected in that way. So much success and ups and downs we’ve had. That’s what you experience together.”
He mentions how the change was difficult in the beginning. However, the experience with the shift eventually did become just as exciting. Since they were just as driven and enthusiastic, shared Lewis.
