Sebastian Vettel is a people person and an activist who stands for what he believes. The German is an outspoken man on the track, especially with social injustice and societal issues. And with his stature, whatever Vettel says, the world indeed pays attention.

However, the four-time world champion does not use the most commonly used platform to voice his opinions. The platform includes social media applications; the German is not using any of them. Vettel is making all the difference in the world without Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Vettel is old school with voicing his opinions and the Aston Martin feels he’s better off without the apps.

Sat down with Matt Gallagher from the WTF1 team in Silverstone to answer fan questions. Vettel was asked, “You’re the only F1 driver who isn’t on social media. Will we ever see a Sebastian Vettel social media account?” 

The world champion gave the most relatable reply to this question. He started off jokingly, “Yeah, I feel really lonely. I have to say, I’m the only one left out.”

He continued, “I don’t know, I just never started it and I’m quite happy I also don’t have the apps, I’m busy enough with the phone like trying to not use the phone too much because I also find that you know when someone else shows me on his phone.. then it’s really interesting you just keep going up (x3) there more and more.”

Vettel added, “I can see why people are, I don’t want to say addicted in a bad way, but why people are spending so much time on there.”

But kudos to Vettel for still making himself heard without it!

The German world champion is outspoken and cares deeply about our environment. And on the opening weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix, Vettel donned a shirt with a message. The message read, “Stop Mining Tar Sands. Canada’s Climate Crime.” 

This is not the first time Vettel is expressing concern over climate change at Grand Prix weekend. And the German also admits to questioning his role in climate change by being a part of the traveling circus.
