Kevin Magnussen will start Saturday’s sprint race at the Interlagos circuit from P1. The Dane gave a sensational performance in the rain-affected qualifying in Brazil. For his stupendous efforts, he received appreciation from a two-time world champion.

The fortunes were all in Magnussen’s favor. Eight minutes were left in Q3 and the 30-year-old was on a provisional pole. However, Mercedes’s George Russell spun into a gravel trap and brought in the red flag. As the session resumed, the rain intensified.

This meant that no driver, with the intern, on a wet track, could improve their timing and go faster than the lap set by Kevin Magnussen. The event left the Haas and Magnussen elated. The Dane secured the pole position for the first time in his career. This also happens to be the first pole for Haas F1.

After he was announced as the pole sitter, he got a special message from two-time world champion Max Verstappen, who’ll start alongside him in P2. A Twitter clip is going viral where the Dutchman is seen appreciating Magnussen.

Verstappen said, “well-done mate, good job.”Afterward, when the top 3 spot holders stood together for pictures, Magnussen was heard saying, “This is crazy guys!”

The moment is special for the Haas driver and it seems the Dutchman was also really happy for Haas and Kevin Magnussen.

Talking to Sky Sports F1 Steiner shared, “This is the sort of thing that you’re scared to dream about,” he said. “The whole team have been trying hard for seven years. Circumstances let us pull this one off.”
