Max Verstappen, the defending driver’s champion, is on a roll after his back-to-back victories this F1 season. Even though he had a rough start to his fight for glory, the latest win in Miami was a much-needed impetus. During his time off in Monaco this week, Verstappen was given a great honor.

Verstappen received a bust of Juan Manuel Fangio. The Fangio Foundation recognized the 2021 F1 Champion and his achievements. Surprised and elated, Max held on to the award with a smile- the legacy Sir Juan Manuel Fangio holds strong in F1. The first decade of the sport was greatly influenced by El Maestro.

The Red Bull driver is four titles short compared to the Argentinian champ. However, that didn’t stop the foundation from celebrating the reigning champion. After an intense battle for supremacy in 2021, it was Verstappen who dethroned Lewis Hamilton.

As of now, things look positive for the Red Bull man. Although Max is 19 points behind leader Charles Leclerc, chances are he might overtake the Monegasque soon; at least that’s what two back-to-back victories point to.

After the win in Miami, Verstappen defended his American race win records. The 2021 COTA race in Austin saw Verstappen win over Hamilton. Now, the second American race of the season is scheduled for late October. It’ll be interesting to see if the defending champ can make it a hat-trick of wins in the North American country.

Admittedly, Max had two DNFs in his first three races. Ever since, he won two races and a sprint; picking up 60 points in just two races. Interestingly, the Dutchman won every race he finished in 2022. As the Red Bull looks solid and much stronger than their competitors, for now, Max hopes to overtake Leclerc in soon. However, his rival in red is far from backing down from the fight.
