There has been a lot of hype around the Brad PittLewis Hamilton Hollywood venture. And deservedly so. The sport is finally getting global recognition and what better way to build on its commercialization realistically than take a Hollywood Oscar-winner and a 7-time F1 World Champion? As if this lethal combo for success wasn’t enough, Hamilton has confirmed that his beloved dog, Roscoe too, will be starring in the production. And he’s landed that role because of his immense popularity on social media.

Roscoe is a celebrity in his own right. Whoever follows the Mercedes racer on social media knows how big a part of his life Roscoe is. In 2018, the Briton revealed how Roscoe made $700 a day from modeling gigs. If you add that up for a year, the British Bulldog makes $250k a year. And it is that popularity that has translated into him getting a role in the $140 million budget F1 movie with Brad Pitt.

During a public appearance after the British GP, the 7-time champion was forced to spill the beans on Roscoe’s movie appearance. More than for Hamilton, the fans were shouting out Roscoe’s name. Unfortunately for them, the British Bulldog was back at the Mercedes motorhome at Silverstone. And he eventually had to explain why Roscoe was not with him.

“He’s been working all weekend,” said Hamilton.I think he was on set this morning filming with Brad for the movie. So, he’s gonna be in the new F1 movie. Have you not seen his stuff on Instagram?

The movie is going to be an absolute delight for fans with such a special, ‘special appearance’. And as humble and credit-giving as Hamilton is, he even thanked the entire sport and its CEO for facilitating the pre-production and production processes.

The shooting of the movie, with the working title ‘Apex’, got underway at the British GP. A real garage for Brad Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, was built at Silverstone. And the actors shot live at Spa before the race commenced. The APXGP cars lined up P21 and P22 on the grid in the formation lap. And the entire process was streamlined and smoothly executed. For that, Hamilton lauded F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, and all other stakeholders, for their efforts.

He said, as quoted by Minutod, “I think so far it’s been incredible. I think everyone has felt incredibly welcome and there’s a great atmosphere among the film crew, with the actors and directors. And there are so many people who have worked so hard to make it possible, with the great help of Stefano, for example. This has never happened before in our sport. It’s huge.”
