Recently, Lewis Hamilton came across an inspirational video from a Welsh nurse. He promptly shared it across social media, and she became quite overwhelmed with the reaction.

Ysbyty Gwynedd’s senior operating department practitioner, Petula Rees, strongly urged seriously ill patients to “Never Give Up” and keep fighting.

As an added touch, she wrote the motivational message in front of her mask. Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, a lot of people are wearing masks for protection and she is one of them.

Primarily, the ‘Never Give Up’ quote is attributed to the six-time Formula 1 world champion and Mercedes driver. However, Rees believes that it applies to everyone in the health sector, as they take the fight to the coronavirus pandemic.

She said, “I won a Formula 1 racing car steering wheel in a competition run by the Paddock Club and they spoke to me about the work I do and posted the video online.”

“It’s gone viral since it was posted on Thursday and has been shared thousands of times. I was working nights on Friday and came home on Saturday morning and my phone was full of messages.

“I’ve got many more followers on Twitter and loads of friend requests on Facebook. Some of the messages are from fellow health care professionals who have told me they have written “Never Give Up” on their face masks.

Admittedly, the Welsh native is a massive Formula 1 fan, and watched several races. She even travelled to the Middle East and paid a visit to some of the garages. However, she has yet to met Lewis Hamilton, and who knows whether this can change soon. The British superstar has already acknowledged her and her efforts.

Needless to say, every health professional and the NHS is doing everything in their power to combat the virus. The citizens of the world are also doing their best to cooperate and stay safe amidst the crisis.
