Red Bull and Mercedes have, over the years, developed a fierce rivalry in F1. Their battles often spill over to outside the track, with both drivers and team bosses taking a dig at each other. The newest entrant to the game is George Russell, who joined Mercedes only last year from Williams. However, it looks like the junior driver is already up to the task. The Briton recently appeared in a fun little video for Mercedes’ YouTube channel where he rated the F1 tracks. His response to the Red Bull Ring certainly did not go down well with the Austrian team’s fans.

Ever since the start of the 2021 season when Red Bull matched Mercedes toe to toe on pace, things have heated up between the two camps. That year, Max Verstappen, albeit in a controversial fashion, won his maiden title over Lewis Hamilton. Ever since then, the Silver Arrows haven’t posed much of a threat. The only saving grace was Russell’s maiden race win at Interlagos last year. Since then, neither he nor his teammate has taken the top spot again.

In the video, when it came to rating the Red Bull Ring, the official race track for the Austrian GP, Russell said, “Red Bull Ring. I mean just for the name it’s got to go in the “meh” column”

The comment was obviously an attempt at cheeky banter, but clearly, some fans failed to read the room. Take a look at how brutally the Red Bull fans trolled the young Mercedes driver.

Some fans questioned Russell over what he had achieved to even pass comments like that on Red Bull.

Some went a little overboard as one fan even wished that he DNF’d in every single race.

One Red Bull fan took a swipe at Mercedes for not even having a track to their name.

At least there were some who recognized the humor behind Russell’s comments.
