Lewis Hamilton Sends a Heartfelt Message to the Fans Amid the Coronavirus Crisis

The coronavirus pandemic has been a massive disruption to nearly every public event and sporting event. Several countries have imposed travel restrictions into and out of the region. With mass gatherings discouraged, sporting events have taken a massive hit. Recently, reigning champion Lewis Hamilton beseeched the fans to stay safe amid the virus.
The 6-time world champion self-isolated since the Australian Grand Prix. Luckily, he is symptom-free, in spite of coming in contact with Idris Elba who tested positive.
The Briton attended a charity event in London before flying to Melbourne for what the Australian Grand Prix. Elba and Sophie Trudeau, wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also attended the event.

Sadly, the latter two tested positive for the coronavirus, so Leis Hamilton underwent self-isolation. Fans will be glad to know that he is feeling “healthy” and has “zero symptoms”. On the other end of the spectrum, the Mercedes driver did not undergo any test. He justified himself, saying that other people need it more than he does.

In a social media post he wrote: “There’s been some speculation about my health, after I was at an event where two people later tested positive for coronavirus.”
“I wanted to let you know that I’m doing well, feeling healthy and working out twice a day. I have zero symptoms, and it’s now been 17 days since I saw Sophie and Idris, and have been in touch with Idris and happy to hear he is ok.”

He confirmed that he consulted his doctor and was told that there are limited amount of tests available. In addition to that, many people need it on a more urgent basis, especially when Hamilton himself didn’t display any symptoms.

Instead, he chose to isolate himself since the race weekend. He concluded, “The most important thing everyone can do is stay positive, social distance yourself as best you can, self isolate if you need to, and regularly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
“Thank you for all the messages. I’m sending positivity and love from afar.”
