The 2022 F1 season has been a rollercoaster for Scuderia Ferrari. The team from Italy saw great highs at the start of the season but ended up just ahead of Mercedes. What was supposed to be the year for their championship win ended up being a battle for P2 for their lead driver, Charles Leclerc. As Mattia Binotto offered his resignation, some reports say Ross Brawn is shortlisted to be the new Ferrari boss.

Ross Brawn is set to be the next Ferrari team principal? At least that’s what the reports say. Amid heavy links, the current managing director of Formula 1 might take the seat and be back at the Italian stable. Brawn was earlier the technical director at Ferrari when the team and Michael Schumacher won five consecutive F1 titles.

As per Italy’s La Stampa report, Brawn might be the replacement of Binotto to take charge of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz’s campaign in 2023. However, all these are just rumors and still, neither side has confirmed anything.

Mattia Binotto offered his resignation a couple of days back. This came after the team’s star driver, Charles Leclerc, and chairman John Elkann lost confidence in the Italian.

If not Ross Brawn, who else can take Mattia Binotto’s place?

As per rumors, the next prominent person to sit on Mattia Binotto’s chair could be Frederic Vasseur, the current team boss for Alfa Romeo Racing. He has been regarded as the next best person for the role by multiple sources.

The rumors also suggest that if Vasseur is given the role of the team principal, he might want a no. 1 and no. 2 driver dynamic in the team. This might be bad for Carlos Sainz in the future, who remained in the shadows of Leclerc in this past season.

Vasseur is also expected to favor Leclerc as the duo has worked together with each other. When Leclerc was with Sauber, prior to his Ferrari stint, the duo worked together in 2018. Moreover, he also won the 2016 GP3 Series with ART Grand Prix, a team founded by Vasseur.
