It is always fun and games when the outcome matches your expectations. The Bahrain Preseason Testing, which concluded yesterday, was a smooth cruise for the reigning champions, Red Bull. Their Golden Boy, Max Verstappen, had a gala time testing the wonder that Adrian Newey has built. After the man was handed this year’s machine to become one with, the Dutchman showcased his fun side, giving a cheeky reply to his engineer.

It was cold, and the track was a bit frozen at Silverstone during the filming day and one could see it had spread salt across it. The reigning double world champion went out to take a feel of the track, and knowing the sheer command he has over the wheel, he went full throttle through the corner. And believing the bite straight from the horse’s mouth, “That was a lot of fun”. And Verstappen stated that post that little stunt he immediately felt confident in the car.

As quoted by racingnews365, Verstappen said, “We drove a few laps in a normal [road] car, and then I said to my engineer [Gianpiero Lambiase]: ‘I think I should be full throttle from the very first corner.'”

To which Lambiase said, “No, no, you can’t.” and the fierce yet fun-loving Verstappen replied, “Just watch!”

Verstappen said, “Compared with last year, I think it is a step forward,” He further added, “But that’s also because last year’s car was overweight and it was the first year of the new generation of car. During the year you obviously learn a lot, which makes it easier to start [learning] now – and I think we have done that.”
