At Thursday’s press conference ahead of the much-awaited Belgian Grand Prix. Both Russell and Bottas are uncertain about their future in the sport but have stated that there is nothing new to reveal with regards to their contracts.

Fans are dying to know who will drive alongside Lewis Hamilton in 2022. However, they will be disappointed to know as neither Valtteri nor Russell have a concrete answer to give.
Speaking at the presser as quoted by GPFans, Bottas said, “Not really, maybe I know something, maybe I don’t but there is no news to share.”

While Russell replied, “Still in discussions over the summer break but there is nothing to announce one way or another this weekend or probably not next weekend either to be honest, which I think is no problem.”

Who will get the seat?

The Finnish driver has been at the Silver Arrows since 2017 and has helped them to win the constructor’s championship so far. Now in his last year of the contract, with no extension given, uncertainty looms over his time on the grid in F1.
Meanwhile, down at Williams, Russell impressed the Brackley-based squad when he had a one-off drive last season at Sakhir. The 23-year-old is also in his final year of the contract and being part of the Mercedes driver academy, he is tipped to drive for them.
