The upcoming week is full of exciting surprises for F1 fans. As if the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend and the release of the Brawn GP documentary weren’t enough already, you can also add The Netflix Cup to the list. With the live event just days away, Lando Norris has been predicted to lose against Carlos Sainz, despite Norris’ recent golf addiction.

The Netflix Cup in simple terms is Drive To Survive meets Full Swing. With the live event set to be a crossover between F1 and Golf stars, fans will be able to see their favorite drivers in back-to-back action, as the Las Vegas GP weekend will start soon after.

In a recent video by ESPN, Laurence Edmondson and Katie George shared their thoughts and predictions for the upcoming Netflix Cup. If you didn’t know, the pairings for the live event are as follows: Lando Norris with Rickie Fowler, Carlos Sainz joining forces with Justin Thomas, Pierre Gasly paired up with Collin Morikawa, and Alex Albon with Max Homa.

Katie George went first as she stated, “I would put my money on Lando Norris and Rickie Fowler. I wouldn’t if it was just Rickie Fowler, I would have not put my money on him, but I’ve heard Lando Norris is the best golfer, is that true?”

However, Laurence Edmondson rebuked her opinion and crushed Norris’ hopes by stating, No, Carlos Sainz is a significantly better golfer than Lando Norris. Lando golfs an awful lot and is addicted to it and has improved far more, than Sainz in the last two years or since he started playing, but his standard was way lower to start with. So Sainz is pretty much a lifelong golfer.”

That’s some way of crushing the hopes of Lando Norris fans. Especially when considering how golf has somehow emerged as a hobby for the McLaren driver. However, if Carlos Sainz does indeed bring his A-game to the 2-and-a-half-hour-long event, then who better than Sainz to lose to, for Norris? Especially given that they are good friends and former teammates.

Whilst Lawrence Edmondson’s words suggest that Carlos Sainz will be more lethal at the Netflix Cup, Lando Norris seems to have not given up so easily. A few weeks ago, Norris had this to say about Rickie Fowler, “ I watched all of the guys and Rickie is kind of a bit more back on form lately, comparing to where he was at the beginning of the year and last couple of years. I’m excited. It’s going to be the first live event for Netflix, which is a cool thing to be part of. Nice course and everything. And yeah, I don’t know, like how the whole event is going to work but I’m sure it’s going to be good, fun.”

Well, it seems like Norris is ready to help Fowler carry both at the live event. Considering that the Ferrari driver won’t give up easily, the battle between Norris-Fowler and Sainz-Thomas could spice up the tournament!
