If you heard that a Formula 1 driver has been injured, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? It’s most likely to be a crash-related injury, right? However, that’s not the case with Lando Norris this time. Recently, photos of the British driver have caught the attention of the F1 community, where his face can be seen covered in blood and bandages. It turns out that Norris had an accident while celebrating King’s Day in Amsterdam while partying.
The severity of the injury has not been confirmed as of yet, which raises doubts about whether Lando Norris will be fit for the upcoming race. However, he was smiling in those photos, suggesting that it might not be as serious as it looks.
While most drivers decided to take a break during the gap between the Chinese and the Miami Grand Prix, Norris decided it was time for some fun in the Netherlands. There are videos on social media showing Norris partying on a boat, along with his celebrity DJ friend Martin Garrix. Unfortunately, things took a bad turn for him when he got a cut on his nose during the party as reported by f1maximaal.nl.

We are still awaiting official word from either McLaren or Lando Norris himself about the state of his injury and whether he will be able to participate in the Miami Grand Prix. However, the fans can relax a little, simply because Norris was in good spirits and was seen smiling despite the bandages all over his face.
In any case, if Norris is unfortunately deemed unfit for the race, McLaren has a talented young driver waiting to take on the opportunity.

Mexican driver Patricio O’Ward has been part of the McLaren family since 2020 when he joined Arrow McLaren to race in the IndyCar championship. In the four seasons so far, O’Ward has tasted quite a bit of success with the papaya team including four wins, five pole positions, and an impressive 20 podium finishes in 72 starts. His performances earned him a reserve driver seat with the McLaren Formula 1 team last year alongside the 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Ryo Hirakawa.

O’Ward has been steadily gaining experience with Formula 1 cars, having participated in development tests and even driving during the young driver’s test in Abu Dhabi in 2022. On top of that, his time in the open-wheel category as an IndyCar driver has earned him a Super Licence, which is his ticket to the world of F1. Surely, the Mexican will be eagerly waiting for a chance to prove himself in Formula 1 as well. Although it is up to McLaren to decide who will take on the duties if Lando Norris can’t.
By the looks of it, Norris should be fine before the Miami GP weekend starts. What are your thoughts on the matter?
