Politics has always been an important domain in the world. F1 is hardly any different. F1 politics has often had a profound impact on the functioning and the policies of the FIA. As F1 returns with lots of zest and thrill, it also brings forth the drama and politics surrounding the teams. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff wasn’t holding back as he took a savage jibe at Christian Horner and Red Bull.
Toto Wolff has fired shots at Red Bull and Christian Horner as rumors surrounding Red Bull’s budget cap breach intensify. Moreover, the FIA is adamant to end the 2021 season by issuing ‘complacence certificates’ to the teams next week.

However, rumors have emerged surrounding two teams that have breached the $145M budget cap allotted to the teams on the car and performance-related finances in 2021. The two teams are Red Bull and Aston Martin Racing. Wolff further said that the breach can have serious implications for future championships.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Toto said, “That’s a massively heavyweight [issue]. We are using used parts, we are not running what we would want to run, we are not developing what we could be developing.”
In a more heartbreaking revelation, if the cost cap violations are true-it would be immensely unfair to the lay off teams had to resort to in order to stay within the limit. “We have made more than 40 people redundant, that are dearly missed in our organization.”
Wolff further stated, “It was a huge mammoth project to make the car, I don’t know how many 10s of millions we had to restructure, reprocess, in order to be below the cap and, if someone has been not doing that or pushing the boundaries, every million is a massive disadvantage.”
It remains to be seen if FIA finds RBR guilty or not. Furthermore, if found guilty, the implications of the same will be closely followed by their rivals.

Christian Horner is confident about their accounting submissions to the FIA. The Brit is confident that they have thoroughly followed the rules and spent according to the rulebook. Talking from Red Bull’s Singapore paddock, Horner dismissed any rumors suggesting that RBR had overspent.

Additionally, he commented, “Every team theoretically is subjected to it so they will have looked at every team’s submitted accounts and they’re following a process. We’re very confident in our submission. Anything different to that, then we’ll wait to hear from the FIA.”
