Goodbyes are kind of difficult for us humans to process. Especially when you’re saying it to the ones you have a special relationship with. And Lewis Hamilton will bid farewell to Mercedes at the end of 2024, a relationship that has lasted over a decade and gave him some of the best memories of his life. And so, it’s natural for him to get emotional about it as he gears up for his last season with the Brackley-based squad. Everything that he’ll be doing for the final time with Mercedes will remind him of the success and the good times he’s had there. However, he is still as determined as ever to help his team get back to the top.

A recent tweet from Junaid Samodien gave us a glimpse of what’s going on in the head of the 7-time world champion as he starts the first race week of the season. “Nothing really changes. I was back at the factory on Monday, everyone is all hands on deck. I’ve been with this team for such a long time. There is so much love in the team. I will always love this team. Everyone knows that I am here to deliver for the team… There will be many emotional experiences throughout the year, the last test, the last seat fit, but we will experience it together, said Hamilton.

However, he was robbed of his 8th driver’s championship at the season finale in 2021. But righting a wrong isn’t the only reason why Lewis Hamilton is pushing for another title. In a recent appearance on the ‘F1: Chequered Flag’ podcast, the Brit shed light on another major reason for his pursuit of another championship glory.

He opened up about his motivation amid what he describes as “dark times.” Reflecting on global issues such as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Hamilton emphasized the importance of spreading positivity. We are living in dark times right now. With the cost of living and everything that’s happening in the Middle East, it’s easy to fall to the negative. But we need more and more positivity out there. So, this is a platform and I want to do that, said Hamilton.

He believes that his pursuit of an eighth championship can serve as a source of hope and inspiration for fans in these challenging times. He also shed light on his extreme training schedule as part of his preparation for the season ahead. Hamilton’s 6-day training program includes a combination of stretching, yoga, ice bathing, and heat therapy.
