Red Bull suffered yet another problem with the RB18, this time at the Australian Grand Prix. This time, it was none other than their star driver, Max Verstappen, who had to retire the car in the middle of the race. Team Principal Christian Horner expressed his opinion on this and took a dig at Mercedes.

The Dutchman had to slow down and retire his car after lap 38. This is the third time the Red Bull cars had to face problems in six outings. While reliability has become a big issue, the man in charge thinks they got that covered.

Is it believed that Christian conveyed in a post-race interview that he would “rather fix a fast car than make a slow and reliable one fast.” The comment probably came after the journalists asked him to have something to say after the much talked about reliability issue.

The reliability has been a major issue for Red Bull in 2022. Earlier, Max and Perez retired in the very first race of 2022 in Bahrain. With so many points gone already, these point losses can make the Milton-Keynes-based team suffer heavily at the end of the season.

Mercedes fires back with another podium

On the other hand, the German team driver, George Russell, took a dig at Red Bull. The former Williams man stated, “It doesn’t matter how fast your car is if you don’t make it until the end.” George, who finished in P3, got lucky to claim the podium after Max had to back out.

This is the second time a Mercedes driver picked up a podium in three races. Earlier in the season opener in Bahrain, Verstappen and Perez’s DNF gave Lewis Hamilton P3.
