“Zak Brown Needs to Go”: After McLaren’s Stellar IndyCar Show, Papaya Army Slams F1 Team’s Relative Underwhelming Performance
McLaren CEO Zak Brown declared to the world that IndyCar has a bright future even after Formula 1’s exponential growth among the US audience. While that seemed like a statement where he wanted to cater to the IndyCar audience as the Woking-outfit also runs a team in that format, the statement hasn’t aged well, seeing the difference in the successes of their IndyCar and F1 teams.
Last year, McLaren didn’t put in much effort to rectify their car as they were focused on their 2023 challenger. The laughable part is that despite the vision, they couldn’t roll out this year’s challenger before the fourth race in Baku. However, the sad reality is that even the new upgrade package hasn’t made much of a difference.
Contrastingly, their IndyCar team is doing exceptionally well. The Indy 500 qualifying result for the team was mega, as all four of their drivers were seen advancing. The official Twitter account of the Arrow McLaren IndyCar team posted, “Record times with all cars advancing?? Today was a good quali day. Felix P1, Alexander P2, Tony P6 and Pato P8.” And seeing such a brilliant show, fans couldn’t help but compare it to their miserable show in F1.

Fans call out Zak Brown for McLaren’s poor show
Comparing the magnanimous show at Indianapolis 500 and perhaps F1 show at Miami or Bahrain, fans have perhaps begun losing their patience. And with that, they have begun pointing fingers at the man who has the circuit of Monza tattooed on his arm, Zak Brown. Take a look at what F1 Twitter is saying.
