Piastri has shared a childhood story that he believes to be the obstacle that hindered him from achieving his Formula 1 dream. According to Formula Passion, the McLaren driver describes how the scheduling of the races used to cause strife between him and his parents Since he had to wake up for school in just a few hours, his parents forbade him from watching the Grand Prix, which had been scheduled for late into the night. As a result of this Piastri had to watch the races after school.

He said, ” When I was a child it was very difficult for me, because the Grands Prix were at one or two o’clock on Monday morning and I had school a few hours later. My parents wouldn’t let me stay awake and I had to catch up on the Grand Prix on the Monday after school. So yes, I would say it’s hard.” [Translated Via Google]
