All the talent Lewis Hamilton has displayed in F1 has not just earned him fame in the sport but outside it as well. Hamilton is among the most popular athletes in the world and has quite the commercial value. That brings him the best of brands that want him to promote their products and services. As FIFA, one of the most-played video games in the world started a new in-game mode to rope in more players, the F1 sensation was among many elite entities to star in it.

EA Sports introduced VOLTA in FIFA 20 as the craze for fast-paced street football took the world by storm. In the mode, gamers could create their own players and travel across 23 locations in the world to play 5-a-side matches. In FIFA 21, they introduced “Groundbreakers”- entities who were doing an impressive job in their respective fields. Now gamers could play with or against the likes of Anthony Joshua, Joel Embiid, Patrick Mahomes, and Hamilton in VOLTA.

Grateful to have his name among such legends, Operation Sports quoted Hamilton as saying, “I’ve always loved playing EA SPORTS FIFA as a way to unwind. To be a part of this year’s game alongside some of the other names from different sports is amazing.”

Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid was thrilled to make the list as well. “I’m the best football player and fan in the NBA, so to be able to say that I’m actually in FIFA just proves that. Football has such a huge and loyal following across the globe and to see different elements of major sports leagues come together is something I’m thrilled to be a part of.”

While Lewis earned a place among the “Groundbreakers”, it’s his rival who is probably a better FIFA player than him.

Lewis Hamilton is not the only F1 driver fond of playing FIFA

Like many other F1 drivers, Max Verstappen has some hobbies away from the racetrack as well. In fact, one of his hobbies is so dear to him that he got almost as good at it as he is at motor racing. That hobby, or should we rather say obsession, is playing FIFA.
