O’Ward’s ‘Amazing’ Indy 500 Run Opens McLaren F1 Counterpart Lando Norris’ Eyes to IndyCar Career

McLaren has not had the best of starts to 2022. While Daniel Ricciardo continues to struggle, Lando Norris has taken it upon himself to deliver the results. Despite suffering from tonsillitis, the young Briton did not miss the Monaco GP and even secured a solid P6 result.

Norris has, of course, celebrated multiple podiums in his time at F1, but Sunday’s result was certainly a one to cherish. On a track that punishes mistakes like no other, his performance would have surely satisfied himself and the team.

The 22-year-old is one of the drivers touted as a future world championship material by many. After a confident performance on a tough afternoon, Norris revealed about what he did after gathering valuable points for his team.

What did Lando Norris do after Monaco GP?

Although the Monaco GP result was not the one to celebrate, Norris would have been content with the outcome. We have seen drivers enjoy their champagne after finishing on the podium. However, the Briton revealed he does not prefer champagne after a celebratory performance on the track.

He said, “I don’t really drink at the best of times. If I ever win a race they are going to have to find me something other than champagne as I cannot stand the stuff. “

The Monaco GP dragged on for three hours because of the delay. And after a tiresome afternoon, the McLaren driver stated he watched the Indy 500 race, rooting for Pato O’Ward. He is currently driving for Arrow McLaren SP in IndyCar and he finished 2nd to Marcus Ericsson in what was a stunning race.

“Instead I went back to my flat and had a quiet night in watching the Indy500. Pato O’Ward did an amazing job taking second place for McLaren’s IndyCar team, which was cool. Those guys have massive coj***s,” he added.

Will we see Norris in IndyCar?

The Indy 500 is one of the three most important motorsport events, along with the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, Norris has snubbed IndyCar and has displayed his interest in driving in Le Mans.

He stated, “I am not sure you will ever see me racing the Indy500, although I do fancy giving sports cars a go one day so Le Mans is a goal. For now, my focus is all on F1. The weekend has given me renewed motivation and I cannot wait for Azerbaijan next week.”

We are sorry IndyCar fans. But, as Formula 1 moves to Baku, Norris will look to further improve his performances and compete with the top 3 teams. He certainly has the potential and McLaren is relying on him to deliver the goods.
