Recently, Lewis Hamilton sat down with Corriere della Sera for an exclusive interview. The 6-time world champion spoke on a variety of topics, ranging from following his dreams, to what keeps him motivated and more. The interviewer also touched upon rising stars, Max Verstaooen and Charles Leclerc.

The interviewer noted that during Hamilton’s early Formula 1 career many critics deemed him as too aggressive. Now the critics are levelling the same criticism at Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. So, is there always going to be a clash between older and younger generations.

Lewis Hamilton replied, “I think sometimes people confuse aggression with passion. To be successful in this sport you have to be passionate when racing and have the mentality to push yourself to win. The younger generation will always want to challenge the older drivers and leave their mark, but when speed is the key contending with experience is never easy”

What else did Lewis Hamilton say?

Admittedly, Lewis Hamilton is not too thrilled about the late start to the 2020 season. He confessed to feeling a big ‘void’ from the lack of racing, especially after a 10th race dropped out.

“I miss racing every day. This is the first time since I was 8 that I haven’t started a season,” the 35-year-old mentioned on social media. “When you live and breathe something you love, when it’s gone there’s definitely a big void. But there’s always positives to take from these times.”

Fortunately, it won’t be long before Lewis Hamilton and teammate Valtteri Bottas break in the Mercedes W11. As it turns out, the sport is planning to resume by July 5th. In other words, the Austrian Grand Prix will kick off the season at last, albeit behind closed doors.

F1 CEO Carey drew up plans for a dramatically shortened 2020 season. F1 will have a few races in Europe, before heading to Asia, then the Americas and finally the Middle East.
