Ever since Nico Rosberg followed in Lewis Hamilton’s footsteps to start his own team in the Extreme E racing series, people have been left wondering whether this will blow new life into the pair’s rivalry.
But Lewis revealed that he is not in the series to fight with Nico, but to focus on “raising awareness in different climates.” During the press conference in Portugal, the 6-time World Champion denied that he will be competing against his rival.
He said, “I don’t look at it that way. I think the most important thing is focusing on raising awareness in different climates that we’re going. I think.

“That’s the most impressive thing about the sport and this championship. The actual competition on the track is not the most important part. So it’s really about going to those places and raising awareness, which is the reason I got involved,” Lewis said.
Lewis’ team will be entering the series with the name, X44. Meanwhile, Rosberg has registered his team under the name, Rosberg Extreme Racing.
The German, much like Lewis, is focused on raising awareness about climate change. He also mentioned that he had no intention of racing against his F1 rival.

“They’re using the new technology there that hopefully will spark a development race that manufacturers will hopefully come in and get involved in and push it even further and implement that into the cars hopefully,” Lewis said.

But apart from that, Lewis will specifically be focused on the upcoming race weekend in Portugal. He will be hoping to bolster his lead and take the pressure off his head.
What’s more, the Briton will be looking to leapfrog Michael Schumacher to create a record for the highest number of wins. There’s a lot at stake; however, the 35-year-old isn’t one to buckle under pressure.
