In his recent Live F1 chat on YouTube, a fan asked the former Ferrari boss, Peter Windsor, whether he was surprised to see how tame Perez went on Perez and did bravery played a part in this duel. In his honest demeanor, Windsor did not shy away from spilling his true thoughts as he served Perez a truth bomb.

He stated, Not enough skill I think. Nothing to do with courage. As I said earlier, and I know you would ask this question before I started my thing but that is to with the fact that one of Perez’s weakest points is the entry to the corner.”

Windsor further elaborated his point by directing Sergio Perez‘s driving style, as he stated, “He only has one way of driving and that’s sort of getting to the apex as best as he can having break more or less in a straight line as break late as he can. Perez comes into his own mid-corner onwards. When he’s really good, nothing special in terms of positioning the car, he’s just very good on power application, but he’s not brilliant in a corner, never has been.”

Analyzing perhaps why Alonso drove the way he did against Perez, Windsor stated, “That’s why Fernando was driving the way he was because he knew there was no way Perez was going to do anything down the inside. It’s just his skill level, it’s not to do with bravery I mean he just doesn’t have the capacity to think about he would get away with it if he did do that what would he do if the front end started to slide, you got understeer, what would he do, he wouldn’t know.”

Lastly, he showed Checo no mercy as he shared his honest opinion on why Perez was even able to overtake Alonso in the first place. He added, “And it’s only because of the DRS that he got him anyway and then he got, he was so happy and relaxed that he got him, and then he blew it and he got re-passed. What was he thinking, or not thinking?” Sorry Checo fans, but Windsor is clearly in the mood to deliver some hard-hitting facts..

Is Sergio Perez on a downward trajectory?

Dips in form are common for even top-tier athletes like Checo and many more. However, there comes a time in every athlete’s journey that they simply don’t have much to offer as they start heading towards a downward trajectory. Athletes like Lewis Hamilton, Tom Brady, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi have proven that age is not a major factor. Whilst physically they might be inferior to their younger self, mentally, they are still amongst the elite.

However, Sergio Perez’s case seems to be different. The main aspect is that being Max Verstappen’s teammate, that too at a team like Red Bull comes at a cost. Unfortunately for Checo, he seems to have paid that as his decline is very evident. It’s crystal clear that being an RB driver has affected him mentally. With him even hiring a mental health coach, it doesn’t take much to connect the dots. Perhaps a move away from Red Bull is the best thing for him, in the long run?
