Formula 1 is heading into the first American race weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 season in Miami, Florida. And Christian Horner would be hoping for his drivers to replicate the result from last year’s Miami Grand Prix when they finished first and second. However, Max Verstappen doesn’t think it will be easy!

The Miami GP, which is already infamous for being physically demanding, thanks to the climate in Florida, is reportedly what is playing on Max Verstappen’s mind as he gears up for a challenging race. Speaking ahead of the Grand Prix weekend, the reigning world champion spoke about the challenges the drivers will face during the race, while also revealing what he is looking forward to.

Miami is always one of the most physical tracks, especially with the heat and humidity, but we are looking forward to the challenge this weekend,” said Verstappen as reported by speedweek.com. “It’s an interesting circuit with a real mix of corners and long straights, so it will be critical to extract learnings from the car where we can over the weekend. The track is good for racing, with some high-speed sections, so it makes it more interesting with this being the second Sprint race in a row,” he further added. [Translated by Google]

Notably, after two seasons of hosting the normal race weekend structure, the FOM decided to convert the Miami GP into a Sprint race weekend for 2024. It will be the second consecutive Sprint weekend of the season following the Chinese GP.

Despite the challenges, it is quite likely that Verstappen will increase his lead in the championship by scoring his fifth win of the season. And the Dutchman certainly wants to do it in style.

Max Verstappen will bring a special helmet design for the Miami GP

Verstappen revealed that he will bring a special edition helmet in Miami, which he will also use in the other two races in the United States in Austin and Las Vegas further ahead in the season. The helmet will feature elements of American culture, including the iconic stars and stripes of the US flag, serving as a symbolic tribute to the passionate fan base in the United States.

“It is always a busy weekend on and off the track for the team and we have had some good memories at this track; Miami doesn’t disappoint in creating a fun and exciting atmosphere for the fans. I will be looking forward to racing in my new special edition USA helmet this weekend and wearing the design that reflects the fans’ passion for the sport,” the defending champion added. However, it seems even his teammate is taking a leaf out of that same book!

Sergio Perez is bringing a new helmet design for the Miami GP to honor the love and support he receives in Florida from the fans. Speaking about the new design, Checo said, “I feel really at home here, the South American and LATAM following for me is crazy and I feel a lot of love from all the fans, wherever I am in Miami. To celebrate that I have a special helmet for this race, honoring all the countries I feel a special sense of support from.”
