Max Verstappen is the hottest property in F1 at the moment. What wouldn’t a team do to have the Dutchman on their side? Unfortunately, Red Bull has already signed the 3x champion until the end of 2028. Nonetheless, with Verstappen only being 26 years old, there’s still a huge career in front of him. Amid the saga of the current Ferrari drivers’ future contract, Frederic Vasseur commented on a possible Ferrari future for Max Verstappen. However, it wasn’t long before he flipped on his stance. What did Vasseur say?

After the dominant display during the 2023 F1 season, Max Verstappen is the name on everyone’s mind. Whether as a fan or as a supporter of another team, Max Verstappen seems to have turned into Thanos and become the Inevitable. With Lewis Hamilton suggesting that Verstappen didn’t even push to his limit in the 2023 season, one can only wonder what the limit might’ve been and what the future holds.

Rumors of Charles Leclerc signing a 5-year deal with Ferrari surfaced once again last week. Carlos Sainz is believed to be asking for a two-year or more contract, but Ferrari is only willing to offer the Spaniard a one-year contract. 2025 could potentially witness a merry-go-round of driver transfers, with multiple driver contracts ending at the end of 2024. Hence, Ferrari is believed to keep its options open with the second seat.

Amid all this chaos, Frederic Vasseur was asked about the possibility of having Max Verstappen sign for Ferrari. As per quotidiano.net, Leo Turrini suggested that Vasseur replied, “I think everyone would be happy one day to have Max in the team.” However, the Ferrari TP quickly flipped on his stance and countered by saying, “But he’s from Red Bull and it’s hard to dissociate his talent from the car he drives. In reality, we have to focus on ourselves. Thinking about anything else is a waste of energy.”

While Max Verstappen has proved his worth time and time again, it is difficult to differentiate whether it was the car or the driver that led to the 2023 dominance. For sure it’s a combination but the Oversteery RB19 didn’t suit Sergio Perez’s driving style. What would’ve been if Verstappen had a driver like Leclerc in the same car? Regardless, a former F1 Team Boss recently advised that Max Verstappen didn’t showcase his full potential in 2023.

Giancarlo Minardi warns the F1 teams as Max Verstappen is yet to unleash the full potential

Max Verstappen won the final race of the season by 17 seconds. This came as a shock as Red Bull stopped the development of the RB19 midway through the 2023 season. Lewis Hamilton expressed his fear regarding the 2024 season on how the Red Bull might be even more dominant as he talked about Verstappen cruising home to victory without breaking a sweat. Giancarlo Minardi has now addressed the 2024 Red Bull concerns.

According to Gazzetta, Giancarlo Mindardi, talking about a closer field in 2024, said, “Everyone says yes, that they will be. But I would wait a while to say it. They [Red Bull] have an advantage that I think is difficult to fill at the moment. Because by carefully analyzing the 2023 races I got the idea that Verstappen never allowed us to see the maximum of his possibilities. And this doesn’t give us much hope. And then I get news from England that their 2024 car is even better.”
