After a troublesome 2023, the Mexican Grand Prix 2023 was one race where Sergio Perez could have provided some serious defense for his RB seat. Unfortunately for him, it wasn’t meant to be. Courtesy of his crash, he now has gotten a harsh reality check, as his nemesis, Lewis Hamilton, made sure to make life more difficult for him.

Ever since Mercedes found some form, Lewis Hamilton has been on a mission to avenge Abu Dhabi 2021. This is due to the fact that Sergio Perez happens to be sitting in the 2nd position in the driver’s standings. And Hamilton wants to make sure that he doesn’t let Red Bull have a perfect season. On top of all this, with Perez crashing out, and Hamilton closing in on the gap, Sergio Perez’s life has just gotten doubly difficult.

It seems like now Sergio Perez has gotten a bright reality check, as Lewis Hamilton is coming after him, and not stopping anytime soon. With only three races left and the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix as the next challenge, Perez will need God on his side! Considering his special connection to Brazil, the British driver particularly views the Autodromo de Interlagos as somewhat of a second home track.

According to Motorsport Total.com, the former Marussia driver, Timo Glock, stated that “In the World Championship fight for second place he is only 20 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton. A good result in Mexico would have given Perez self-confidence. Now things are going in exactly the wrong direction.”

Glock also further emphasized on good Hamilton has been. He further added, “Hamilton has currently found a good way to handle the car. The racing pace is great. That’s why it will now be twice as difficult for Perez in the last races. It’s also down to his nerves.

Unfortunately for any Checo fans, Glock’s statements truly reflect how much more difficult the situation has become for Sergio Perez. It’ll be interesting to see whether he can manage to finish even once, ahead of Hamilton, in the remaining races.

Honestly speaking, it might be a bit too late for Sergio Perez to do anything at this point. With Lewis Hamilton quite likely to finish on the podium or at least top 5, it’s not looking too well for Perez, in the upcoming races. However, he could definitely do with some luck on his side, considering how unfortunate he has been lately.

If he can manage to finish ahead of Hamilton in all the upcoming races, he could certainly help his case out. Even better would be to win all of them. Moreover, that could also possibly save his career at F1. Considering that there aren’t many teams who are eager to have Perez on board. Especially considering his recent form.
