Sergio Perez has achieved at Red Bull what others failed to accomplish in the past 5 years. Red Bull Racing is very picky with its drivers, which is why we’ve seen quite a few seemingly abrupt driver swaps over the years. Pierre Gasly couldn’t hold on to his seat in 2019 for even a full season. Alex Albon, who replaced him, was also dropped by the team at the end of 2020. However, Perez, who joined the team in 2021, has managed to hold on to his seat for 3 consecutive years now. And while he has proven to be a good second driver choice for the Milton Keynes squad, he believes he doesn’t have many more years left with the team.

Checo is entering the final year of his contract with Red Bull in 2024 and there have been a lot of speculations about who could replace him in 2025. While Daniel Ricciardo remains the favorite in that regard, Team Principal Christian Horner and motorsport advisor, Helmut Marko have remained firm on their stance that the seat alongside Max Verstappen is Checo’s to keep if he can continue to deliver results for the team.

The Mexican knows that if he performs at his peak, Red Bull will probably want to extend his contract for at least another season. Helmut Marko recently made it clear that negotiations will likely start after the summer break. And so, Perez has a clear objective; to keep improving as a driver and avoid the setbacks he faced last season, especially his qualifying performance.

In his recent appearance on Formula 1’s official podcast ‘Beyond The Grid,’ Perez explained his goals for the 2024 season. 2024 will be a great year if I perform at my best. If I make a leap in quality as a driver in every race. That will carry over to the results, soymotor.com quoted the Mexican driver. Reflecting on his time with Red Bull, Perez acknowledges his growth, particularly in the standout 2022 season, which propelled him to a strong start in 2023. However, 2023 was a grim season for Perez. Despite finishing 2nd in the championship, he couldn’t even score half as many points as his teammate.

While he remains confident of getting back to his top form in the coming season, he is not sure how long he can stay with the team. “At Red Bull they want me to perform at my best, and if I do, I’m sure they’ll want me to stay. We have good years ahead of us, maybe not many, but several,” he added.

While Checo still feels like he has a few years left to give to Red Bull, F1 pundit, Ted Kravitz believes that 2024 is his final year with the team.

Ricciardo has been the fan favorite to replace Sergio Perez ever since he came back into the Red Bull after his failed stint with McLaren. The Honey Badger himself said that it would be like a dream to come full circle in his Formula 1 career. And Ted Kravitz has just given his vote of confidence to the Aussie for a seat at Red Bull in 2025.

Somewhere deep in Red Bull, the plan is for Danny Ric to replace Checo in 2025, Kravitz told Sky Sports. His insights stem from the optimism about Visa Cash App RB‘s prospects for the upcoming season. He believes that with key signings like Tim Goss, Laurent Mekies, and Peter Bayer, the team is poised for significant improvements. He also believes that Ricciardo will be the standout performer at RB, scoring a substantial number of points in 2024 and even bagging a podium or two.
