Red Bull is going to be facing a tough year in 2023. Having been found guilty of the breach of the rules set by the FIA, Red Bull will now be facing a penalty, which includes a fine as well as reduced wind tunnel time. How will this affect Red Bull’s performance in the upcoming season?

It is going to be hard to navigate with the decided restrictions. In addition, the competitor teams are rising to the occasion with engine upgrades. Having the benefit of utilizing their entire time in testing, Red Bull might be at a huge disadvantage. Ergo, putting Max Verstappen‘s future at risk.

In a recent interview, the Austrian team’s chief engineer, Adrian Newey, explained, “There’s no testing, so it’s very difficult to put an answer that will cost us so many tenths of a second per lap. The reduction of internal testing means we can therefore evaluate less different components and ideas.”

“If we’re really smart and always put on the right things on the model, it doesn’t make much difference.”

“Mercedes starting with a car that was quite a long way off the pace and evolving it to the point they won the last race but one [in Brazil]. We know they will be right there. It’s going to be a tough year for sure,” he added.

Referring to the team rival, Mercedes, Horner exclaimed that the year of 2022 was a rather disappointing year for the Silver Arrows. Therefore, they would step up, much in desperation, to find their place on top against Red Bull.

In an interview, he said, “Mercedes have not enjoyed playing a background role in this year’s championship, so motivation will be there to get back into a winning position.”
