Russell will make his debut weekend with Mercedes at the Sakhir Grand Prix by lining up alongside the Finn driver, Valtteri Bottas. The Silver Arrows will consider this as a test run for the young Briton before handing him a potential full-time drive in the future.
In the process, Mercedes will also finally see a reshuffle in their drivers’ lineup after sticking with Bottas and Hamilton for almost four seasons.

This is definitely one of the biggest opportunities Russell could ask for, as all eyes will be on the Williams driver this weekend. Earlier this year, the 2018 F2 world champion looked like he might have to take a break for 2021 with Williams not showing interest in retaining him.
However, in a sudden turn of events, Williams decided to cling to the pacy young Briton. Furthermore, Mercedes have now handed him an opportunity to even get himself his first-ever podium in Formula 1.
