The future of Red Bull driver Alex Albon is facing uncertain times at the moment. Despite the intensity of the speculation, the team have given no indication of their 2021 lineup.
But it cannot be for very long, as there are just about four races to go this season. And time is running out for Albon, who is under immense pressure for not having gotten the desired results thus far.

Schumacher does not know why Albon is still driving for Red Bull
Schumacher is quoted as saying, “I don’t know why he’s still driving. If you’re already thinking about next year, then you could also think about letting the substitute candidate start the last four races.” (translated from Google Translate)
One of the major reasons could be the lack of pressure in the Constructors’ championship. Mercedes have already sealed the title. And Red Bull do not have immediate pressure from any team for their second place.

The team need to be clearer about the future
It feels like Red Bull have narrowed it down to a shortlist of just two names to fill that seat left behind by Albon. And those are Racing Point’s Sergio Perez and free agent Nico Hulkenberg.
A case for both drivers has seen that they can prove to be an able aide to Max Verstappen. But ultimately, Perez would be the better fit, all things considered.

There might be logic to Schumacher’s words here, in terms of letting the new man settle in a little. But as it stands, Albon is set to remain at the team until the end of the season to prove his worth.
