Sergio Perez is in the best form of his life at the moment. He is undoubtedly in a championship race with his teammate Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc as he continues to push his limits. And during the last two Grand Prix in Monaco and Azerbaijan, there seems to be a pattern emerging.

Perez has now beaten Max Verstappen in 9 consecutive F1 sessions. From Monaco GP’s first free practice session to the qualifying in Baku, the Mexican has got the better of his teammate. This is staggering, to say the least, as Verstappen was considered the number 1 driver for Red Bull.

The last time the Dutchman beat his teammate seem a long time ago. Verstappen was celebrating another famous victory in Spain while Checo finished P2 and secured the fastest lap on the way.

So, it is fair to say that the tides have turned and Perez’s eyes are firmly set on the championship. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see the strategies and decisions taken by Red Bull.

But, in the past, it has proven to be a bit of a barrier as teammates have clashed. Remember Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel’s battle or Daniel Ricciardo and Verstappen racing wheel to wheel, which resulted in immense problems. Red Bull will hope the same situation does not emerge with Perez and Verstappen.

Can Sergio Perez beat Max Verstappen again?

As Perez secured P2 in the qualifying, he will once again look to win a race in Baku. This track is one where the Mexican have been outstanding. He has been on the podium thrice, including his first triumph for Red Bull last year.

However, the track is unforgiving. It incorporates a street course with long straights and sharp 90-degree turns, giving drivers a tough challenge every time they take to the track.
