Lewis Hamilton has always been vocal about the social issues going around the globe and has used his social media platforms to enlighten and encourage people to stand up against the wrongs. One would expect someone who spent a lot of time with him to believe in the same things as him. Just 2 days after Lewis Hamilton stood with Vinicius Jr. against the evil offense, his former confidante joined his team as he shared a 5-word message with the world.

Vinicius Jr. once again became a victim of the social evil named racism recently. During the match between Real Madrid and Valencia, the Brazilian footballer heard some racial slurs coming from the section of the crowd. The whole Madrid team came up to console Vinicius and to stand up against the racist abuse. Even the Valencia players tried to calm things down as Vinicius was reduced to tears. Things soon escalated between the two teams as there was an altercation between the Real Madrid attacker and Valencia goalkeeper. The referee sent Vinicius Jr. off for engaging in a physical bout on the field.

Lewis Hamilton, being the socialist that he is, took a stand for Vinicius Jr. Having already led the Black Lives Matter campaign in F1 and raising his voice against multiple cases of racism, Hamilton understood the seriousness of the situation. Being the only black driver on the F1 Grid, the Briton knows what it is like to face racial abuse. As a beacon of support, the 7x champion posted a story on his Instagram with Vinicius Jr.’s picture. He captioned the story, “Standing with you.”

Now, Lewis Hamilton’s former physiologist and performance trainer, Angela Cullen, who left Hamilton to pursue other passions in life, joined Lewis and stood against the racial abuse faced by the Brazilian footballer. Cullen shared Nike’s official Instagram page’s post on her story. The post has a picture of Vinicius Jr. in his Brazilian team overalls with the 5-word message Stop looking the other way written on it. The caption to the post is “We stand with @vinijr.”

The racist slurs and racism do not help anyone or make anyone feel better. Lewis Hamilton has stood against many social evils and will continue to stand against the ones to come. Many other athletes supported Vinicius Jr. and stood with him.

Alongside Lewis Hamilton, Kylian Mbappe and others show support for Vinicius Jr.

Hamilton wasn’t the only one who showed support. The PSG star player, Kylian Mbappe, also posted a story in support of Vinicius Jr. as he shared the Brazilian’s Instagram post regarding racism. Mbappe’s caption to the story was “You are not alone. We are with you and we support you @vinijr”. His Brazilian teammate, Neymar Jr also posted a story in his support with the translated caption “I’m with you”

It wasn’t only the player but the Real Madrid head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, who also spoke up against what happened against Valencia. He suggested these things shouldn’t be happening. If a coach is forced to take a player out of a game because someone called him a monkey, that means there is something wrong.

We stand with Vinicius Jr. as much as any other athlete did. And hope that strict actions are taken by La Liga.
