Valtteri Bottas enjoyed an incredible getaway at the start of the sprint race qualifying in Monza, as the Finn managed to claim his first-ever victory in the F1 sprint. However, the fact that the Finn is carrying a hefty grid penalty means that Max Verstappen will be starting Sunday’s main race on pole.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton, after a poor start to the race, spent the entire session behind McLaren’s Lando Norris and ultimately came home in P5. But what a session that was for the McLaren duo!
Daniel Ricciardo will start his race on the front row alongside the Dutchman, with Norris, just behind in P3. For the second consecutive weekend, Antonio Giovinazzi will start his race from P7. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez, after a shaky start, fought his way back into the top 10 to claim P9 for Red Bull.

Most of the drivers opted to go with medium tires, with both the drivers of McLaren, Aston Martin, and Alpine choosing to go with soft tires. It was a shocking start from Hamilton, but that was the least of concerns, as Gasly suffered a high-speed crash around turn 3, bringing out the safety car.
Meanwhile, Tsunoda had a moment with Kubica, clipping the Pole’s rear, who then ended up spinning into the gravel. In the chaos, Hamilton ended up in P5, falling behind Verstappen and both the McLaren drivers.
