It was a scenario involving Carlos Sainz and Nyck de Vries that might become a recurring theme from next season.
The scenario came to be as soon-to-be AlphaTauri driver, Nyck de Vries, sat in the Mercedes W13 for the last time this season. The Dutchman replaced George Russell to get his time on the track for the first practice session. De Vries, leaving Mercedes after three years, also shared a heartfelt message with the team towards the end of the session.

However, before the session ended, De Vries caused some confusion for Carlos Sainz. The Ferrari man was on the track and got a simple message on the radio. However, the message was lost in translation and Sainz’s interpretation of the message was absolutely hilarious.
Sainz got an update on the radio saying, “De Vries behind, on an outlap.” It seemed like a routine communication, however, Sainz’s response was anything but routine. He asked, “Who, what, debris?” This communication cracked Sainz’s race engineer as he replied, “Haha no, De Vries. Sorry.”
