In under two weeks’ time, Sebastian Vettel will have started his last F1 campaign in a Ferrari livery. In case one has been living under a rock, the 4-time world champion will part ways with the Maranello-based outfit after 2020. One has to wonder how Ferrari will manage Vettel and Charles Leclerc this year, now that Leclerc is the de-facto ‘number 1.’ However, Vettel being the professional that he is, don’t expect him to give anything less than 100% this season. Now that the German is demoted to ‘number 2,’ F1 Supremo, Bernie Ecclestone still hopes that Ferrari gives Vettel a fair chance.
Bernie Ecclestone backs Sebastian Vettel while hoping Ferrari don’t give Leclerc the upper hand
Ecclestone has been a longstanding friend of the German driver. As such, the F1 Supremo takes Vettel’s side. Blick interviewed Ecclestone and asked what he thinks Vettel’s goal for 2020 will be. The F1 Supremo said, “Sebastian now has only one goal to be faster than Charles. In qualification and the race. The Italians can forget a stable order. I hope they play fair with Sebastian.”

Ecclestone doesn’t think the challenges that Vettel will face in 2020 will put him off. Ecclestone said, “Sebastian is mentally too strong and too attentive for that. Just a professional.” Vettel and Ferrari fans will hope that the 4-time world champion can prove the F1 Supremo right.
How Ferrari manages to handle two talented and hungry drivers will be an interesting side story to follow in F1. So keep your eyes peeled out for that. However, when it comes to the on-track action, Ferrari will hope that they are closer to the likes of Mercedes and Red Bull than they are to the chasing midfield pack. If winter testing is to be believed, it would seem that the Scuderia team is closer to the midfield than they are to the front-runners. The Maranello-based outfit will hope that the upgrades they are set to introduce will come good.
