Max Verstappen might have redefined the word ‘domination’ in the world of Formula 1. It’s been just 10 months since the Dutchman clinched his first F1 title. Now he stands with another one. Recently in an interview, Martin Brundle praised the new two-time champion and gave the fans some insight into his team, Red Bull.

Verstappen’s been the center of attraction during the whole 2022 season. Although failures of rivals like Mercedes and Ferrari have helped, credit where credit is due, Verstappen has been phenomenal.

And Martin Brundle is something who would agree as when asked to reflect on the Dutchman’s year, he said, “He’s been amazing this year. Obviously, the likes of Lewis haven’t had a car to compete with him. Ferrari already have, but they’ve stepped on their own tails a few times.”

He further added, “And despite an awful start for Max, two retirements in the first three races, he has been supreme out there. His confidence, his ability, his comfort level in the car and with his own team, and it has been dominant. It was only a matter of time before he was announced as the World champion,” said Martin Brundle

After weeks of speculation, it was finally confirmed that Red Bull are guilty of a minor breach of last year’s $145m budget cap. It is now up to the FIA on what penalty they see fit for the Milton Keynes-based team. However, Red Bull is fiercely contesting the FIA’s verdict.

Earlier, when asked about overrunning of the budget cap, Christian horner dismissed it, saying, “No. We’re absolutely confident in our submission. We believe we are comfortably within the cap.”

Now it has been reported that Red Bull up to 5% ($7.5m) of the budget cap, which debuted in 2021 to level F1’s playing field. Brundle feels that the rules are now needed to be revised to discourage any further breaches in the future.

“What seems absolutely crazy to me is that a minor breach can be up to five percent overspend on the cost cap,” said the Sky Sports F1 pundit.

“I am assuming that the FIA will have to crack down hard on any minor breaches but it looks like it could be a reprimand or a fine. Will they want to revisit points, will it be manufacturers’ points or drivers’ points for 2021?”
