The cost of Mick Schumacher’s accidents in the 2022 season was much higher than that paid by Haas to repair the car underneath. There was a cost that the young German himself had to bear, and that resulted in him losing a seat. But, he was saved by Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, thanks to the good deeds of his father and an F1 legend, Michael Schumacher.

Toto Wolff, a good friend of Michael Schumacher, came to rescue his friend’s son and hired him as a reserve driver in his squad. The young German will get his hands on the simulator and will have Lewis Hamilton to help him. And now, he could also soon get a chance that will help him prove his mettle to the F1 world. It could potentially be a chance for him to present himself as a worthy driver. So, where would the chance come from?

Mercedes‘s boss answers this question that it will come at the expense of either Lewis Hamilton or George Russell. Toto, as quoted by Planet F1, said, “This time Mick would drive. If one of our drivers gets Covid or gets injured, Mick will be in the Mercedes. Period, end of discussion. We’re trying to get an old car ready for him as soon as possible,” he concluded with eagerness in his tone to make things happen for the 24-year-old.

Michael Schumacher and Toto Wolff have been close friends, and the latter refers to themselves as brothers. Undoubtedly, all the fans loved Toto’s gesture for Mick when he signed him, and they would love these statements, as the Austrian is a man of his word. Toto Wolff lashes out at Guenther Steiner for poor talent management

Haas let Mick Schumacher go after driving for them for two years and accumulating a total of 12 points in his last season. But despite performing well in a decent car for the first time, he was treated rather harshly by Steiner and the squad. They even blasted the driver several times in public over the crashes, which invited criticism from fans worldwide.

Talking about this behavior towards Mick, Toto called out Steiner, as quoted by Si, saying, “And I claim that if Michael had accompanied his son during the two Haas years, Steiner would not have dared to treat Mick like that!” He backed his claims after Ralf Schumacher had said, “I believe and this bothers me the most: If my brother had been there, Guenther Steiner would have behaved differently. I just think Michael’s presence would have been enough. But again, everyone does what they want,” while hoping for different things had Mick’s father been there in the sport.
