“Wasn’t That Dissimilar” – Valtteri Bottas Debunks Theories of F1 2022 Cars Being Different

In 2022, Formula One will witness a new era of racing. However, having experienced the new cars in the simulator, Valtteri Bottas feels the cars aren’t so different.
Bottas will be joining Alfa Romeo for the 2022 season and has begun to work with the team. He got to test out the 2022 cars on the simulator and found nothing unique.

Next season Bottas will not only be driving for a new team but an entirely different generation of cars. However, after trying the new cars on the simulator, he doesn’t find any major differences.
As quoted by Motorsport.com, Bottas said, “At least at that point, it felt like the cars are a bit off in terms of downforce. But the overall feeling, at least in the sim, wasn’t that dissimilar in either of the simulators. We can’t simulate following other cars and stuff like that, but it’s not crazy different. Maybe still a bit less downforce but, like I said, that will change.”

How did Bottas and Hamilton perform in 2021?

The Brackley-based outfit had an intense fight with Red Bull all season long, both in the constructors’ and the drivers’ championship. Lewis Hamilton bagged eight wins, five pole positions, and seventeen podiums, while Bottas managed one win, four poles, and eleven podiums.
Hamilton earned 387.5 points, and Bottas bagged 226 points, giving a total of 613.5 to the Silver Arrows, which saw them win the constructors’ championship.

With Bottas heading to Alfa Romeo for the 2022 season, the team has brought in George Russell from Williams to partner Hamilton. With an exciting driver lineup for the 2022 season, Mercedes are looking forward to the 2022 championship.
