The second Miami GP race is looking right into the eyes of Formula 1 fans. But the eyes of the LH Army are filled with water as they saw their beloved driver get knocked out in Q2 on the 3.36-mile-long Miami International Autodrome circuit. Lewis Hamilton clocked a time of 1:27.975 with a gap of 1.161 seconds to session topper Max Verstappen on a late flying lap and finished P13 on his qualifying run.

The twist, however, is that both Mercedes went deep late into the session on the track. So, while George Russell made it through to the third qualifying session, Lewis failed to make his mark. After his exit, the Briton remarked over the radio, “We left that for way too late guys.” Following this, the fans burst onto social media, questioning the strategy and preparation on the team’s end. After promising upgrades and more space, both the driver and his fans were left furious.

The gap between Russell and Hamilton was a little over two-tenths as he only went P10 in the session, and Mercedes will continue to work late into the night in an effort to fix the problems with the W14. Hamilton had a rough start to the session, finding himself at risk of falling behind and ending up in the bottom five drivers. He put in consecutive yellow sectors, sending his efforts to the bin.

With a comeback promised for Hamilton, loyal fans felt frustrated and disappointed, as they were hoping to see him secure a strong starting position for the upcoming race. 

Many are questioning Mercedes’ decision-making and are expressing their outrage on social media, with some even calling for changes within the team. The anger is spewing as both drivers continue to struggle on the track.

The 2022 Miami GP wasn’t good for the team either, as they could only finish P5 and P6 in the race, with Hamilton occupying the latter spot. This year, things aren’t turning out exactly any better.
