F1 is an expensive sport. Having strong financial backing can surely help in F1 as a driver can start with Karting. Not only money but having great racing skills helps a driver to be in F1. Nikita Mazepin is one such driver. He comes from a wealthy family. Mazepin got into karting when he was only 12 years old. The Russian was able to quickly move up the ranks.

The Russian made gradual progress throughout his career. He went from Karting to Formula Renault 2.0 and then to FIA Formula 3 European. In 2018, Mazepin moved to the GP3 series. He had a great GP3 season. Mazepin finished in 2nd position in the driver’s standings. After a successful GP3 Series, he moved to Formula 2. His first season in F2 was miserable. The Russian finished in 18th place. Although, his 2nd season was quite good as he was able to finish in 5th place.

After finishing the F2 championship in 5th position, Nikita Mazepin was given a chance in F1. His father’s company Uralkali is the title sponsor of Haas.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Uralkali to Formula 1 as title partner to Haas F1 Team,” said team founder and chairman Gene Haas.

Dmitry Mazepin owns the mineral fertilizer company Uralchem. In 2013 he bought 20% of the company from billionaire Suleiman Kerimov. The net worth of Dmitry Mazepin, as per Forbes is $1.3 billion. Dmitry Mazepin keeps an interest in sports, he is also on the board of the All Russian Swimming Federation.

Nikita Mazepin has yet to prove his worth in F1. His 2021 performance is not up to the mark. Mazepin’s best performance is the 14th place finish during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Rookie Russian is yet to score a point in F1.
