Will the Upcoming Brazilian GP Be Considered Lewis Hamilton’s Home Race?

Lewis Hamilton is one of the most recognizable racing drivers in the entire world. He’s been the pride of Britain ever since he graced the Formula 1 paddock. However, is he a driver who has two home races on the 2022 Formula 1 calendar?

Formula 1 will travel to Sao Paulo for the Brazilian Grand Prix. For Lewis Hamilton though, this race holds a lot of significance. Other than being the home Grand Prix for one of his idols, Ayrton Senna, he also has another reason to look forward to the race.

Hamilton was granted with honorary citizenship of Brazil. To this he said, “Speechless. Today I was granted honorary citizenship to one of my favorite places in the world. I don’t really have the words right now.”

He’s definitely looking forward to the race. “Thank you Brasil, I love you, I can’t wait to see you again.”

But what makes the country of Brazil so special for the 7x World Champion. His tryst with Brazil began because of a legend of our sport. Lewis Hamilton’s F1 hero has and will always be the great Ayrton Senna.

Ayrton Senna is one of the greatest drivers to have ever lived. A testament to this would be the fact that the greatest of all time, Lewis Hamilton, idolized the Brazilian back when he began his racing journey in karts.

Hamilton explained why he loves Senna the way he does. “It was the way he raced, his passion for life and for the sport. But more than anything it was the way he faced alone a system that wasn’t always kind to him. May Ayrton Senna’s legacy live on forever.”
