How often would you think of an alternate career option, right? A dream job role that you may have wanted, but never actually pursued it. Lewis Hamilton had a similar thought about one of his major interests besides F1. Ever so that he wished to quit his racing career to pursue that passion.

F1 maestro Lewis Hamilton once visited the NASA Space Center in Houston, Texas. This was ahead of the 2017 US Grand Prix when Hamilton explored all the facilities, including the astronaut training pool. Upon seeing the pool, the Mercedes driver was freaking out with joy and expressed his wish to work at NASA.

Lewis said, “Hey, Guys this is one of the most exciting days of my life. I am here at NASA. I am getting toured around, and I am getting to see the space shuttle and everything. I am going to see the [astronaut training] pool right now. Can’t wait to show you guys.”

“Guys I would happily give up my job [in F1] to come and work here. I wanna be in this pool every day and then go to space.”

Hamilton already had a huge salary from Mercedes in F1. Yet he wished to become an astronaut that might have paid him $94,300 a year. So much financial sacrifice just for his passion for space.

Lewis has always had a fascination for space and stars. The 7-time champion often talks about his interest in constellations. His social media stories often include several pictures that NASA takes of outer space constellations.

It might be weird seeing Hamilton talk about anything but racing. Though such has been his off-track activities in recent years. The Briton often loves to post pictures from NASA of iconic space visuals on his Instagram stories.

Recently he posted a couple of stories that involved posts from the official NASA account. The first post consisted of pictures of Cosmic Cliffs from the Carina Nebula. The next post was of the remnants of the cataclysmic death of a star that lay 160,000 light years away from Earth.

He expressed his disappointment by posting NASA’s official pictures of the eclipse, which was another beautiful shot to watch.
