During the 2018 US Grand Prix, Kimi Raikkonen ended a 5-year win drought when he staved off a challenge from Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Prior to that, his last win was at the 2013 Australian Grand Prix with the erstwhile Lotus F1 team. His last Ferrari win before 2018, was the 2009 Belgian Grand Prix.
Aside from being a Formula One driver, Kimi Raikkonen also served a number of days in the armed forces, and held the rank of Corporal. Owing to his military discipline, he will respect anybody in the armed forces. This was evident during the 2018 US Grand Prix podium ceremony when US Army General Murray awarded him the trophy. The Finn took off his cap to honour the newly-appointed general. Also, from a hierarchical point of view, Murray outranked Raikkonen.

Another show of his class was at the Chinese Grand Prix in 2019, before the national anthem was played ahead of the race. Kimi Raikkonen took off his cap and also did the same for a child who was accompanying him. Such an act is commendable as an act of respect on the part of the Finnish veteran.
Is Kimi Raikkonen the only driver with a military background?

Most of the Finnish drivers served in the armed at some point in their early lives. The likes of Keke Rosberg, JJ Lehto, Mika Häkkinen, Mika Salo, Kimi Räikkönen, Heikki Kovalainen and Valtteri Bottas completed their mandatory military service. It is also worth noting that Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas was a rank lower that Raikkonen, at Lance Corporal.
In 2020, Kimi Raikkonen will be entering his second season with Alfa Romeo. Since he is 40-years old, he is most likely in the twilight of his F1 career. However, there is no indication that he will retire any time soon. In addition to that, Afla Romeo are depending on the veteran Finn to develop their car.
