There was a time when we actually got to see new cars during the launch season of new challengers in Formula 1. However, these days, all we get are the renditions of the livery or a fake car that never gets to see the light of day during a race. And recent reports are suggesting that Red Bull won’t showcase the real RB20 at the launch, yet again.

Red Bull has been notorious in the past for playing their cards close to their chest during the launch season. And this season seems to be no different. Red Bull was running the supposed new RB20 in a shakedown at Silverstone today. However, according to a recent tweet from RBR Daily, Kemal Şengül, the chief editor at Motorsport Turkey reported that the car Red Bull is running is just the “launch version” and that the “real changes” to the car will be revealed only during pre-season testing in Bahrain.

While Red Bull prepares for the launch and the all-important pre-season testing, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes with Christian Horner, the team principal. He is being investigated by a specialist external barrister for allegations of inappropriate behavior against his employees. We now know that one female employee at Red Bull Racing has accused Horner of controlling and coercive behavior (a very serious claim). As soon as the claims were made public last Monday by the Dutch morning newspaper, De Telegraaf, Red Bull GmbH launched the investigation stating that they are taking these allegations seriously. In their statement, Red Bull said that they want to close this investigation as soon as possible. However, it’s now looking like the case will not be concluded for weeks to come.

As the internal investigation continues, Horner’s long-time friend and confidant, Bernie Ecclestone, has been in touch with him as a friendly advisor.

Ecclestone has urged Christian Horner to resign from his post

Last week on Friday, Horner was interviewed by the lawyers as part of the investigation. What was supposed to be a concluding day, for the matter, turned out to be nothing more than a part of a long-standing process. Horner was questioned for more than 8 hours on Friday and the lawyers now have the task of verifying if Horner’s side of the story is true or not. It has been reported that the investigation will continue for weeks and may even drag itself into the start of the season.

It’s a difficult time for Horner and his family, as his reputation is on the line. However, his wife, Geri Halliwell, has stood in his support despite the risk of damage to her own reputation. And she has made it clear that she will support her husband regardless of how the investigation ends. And so, Bernie Ecclestone has advised his friend, Horner, to resign from his post to prevent unnecessary damage to his wife and his family.
